What we are doing: The Sufi Community of Leiden has been volunteering at Gemiva, an organization that supports individuals with intellectual disabilities or other limitations.

Gemiva provides assistance in housing, work, education, social activities, and leisure, helping clients live as independently as possible.

Each week, volunteers visit clients at their location in Leiden, engaging in activities that bring companionship, joy, and a sense of inclusion. Volunteer work includes taking walks, having tea or coffee together, playing board games, cooking meals, and accompanying clients to the cinema or church. These activities offer social interaction and a break from routine.

Gemiva places great value on volunteer involvement, recognizing it as an essential part of creating a supportive environment.
